The Florida voting mystery continues with the state making excuses for an inexplicable 18,000 vote gap in the congressional race, costing Democrat candidate Christine Jennings the race.

Secret Service Shows Us How They Feel

About the Bush twins they have had to guard since 2000:

The purse snatching took place on Barbara’s first night in town while she was dining in the picturesque San Telmo neighborhood. According to the reports, the Secret Service agents failed to notice the incident.

Apparently a good time was being had by all:

A Secret Service agent on the advance detail got into an “altercation” with someone after a night out and was badly beaten, according to the law enforcement reports. The Secret Service said today the incident was an attempted mugging that occurred while the agent was on his own time. The agent is doing fine.

Iraq in “State of War”

I don’t think this is a minor development, even if it is buried at the bottom of a roundup story:

TIKRIT - The bodies of 40 unclaimed people were buried in Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, a hospital source said.

Meanwhile, the Defense Minister of Iraq declares a “State of War” as the search continues for those kidnapped from the Education Ministry. They have not been released as previously reported. Does this explain the 40 unidentified bodies in Tikrit?

Robert Altman, 81, Dies

Since 2002, when Billy Wilder died, Altman in my opinion was America’s greatest living film director. I was and will continue to be a huge fan. Go see his movies.

UPDATE: I have an idea. Please leave comments listing your favorite Altman films, and why. Isn’t that what these bloggity things are for? If you have one, name your least favorite(s) also.

They are stealing a seat in the US Congress by doing this, and it’s Katharine Harris’ old seat, too.
